Humidifier Filter

During the winter months many homes or work spaces can become incredibly dry and uncomfortable. These conditions are created by the need to heat rooms, homes and working areas. To combat the effects of overly dry air many consumers will purchase a humidifier.

Humidifiers come in many sizes and are designed to function in a number of methods, but the most commonly purchased type of humidifier is still the evaporative or wick humidifier. These units use a system that includes a water supply, a humidifier filter or wick and a small fan to distribute moistened air into the room or home.

The primary maintenance or operational concern with an evaporative humidifier is the regular cleaning or replacement the humidifier filter or wick. Each machine will come with specific maintenance instructions for cleaning the unit and maintaining the humidifier filter or wick properly. Humidifiers have filters and wicks in order to eliminate dust and bacteria from the mist of air that they distribute, but some humidifier designs allow for bacteria to exist in the filter if not cleaned or maintanced properly. With that in mind manufacturers make replacement humidifier filters easily replaceable and affordable in order to keep the air quality of their customers at its best.

Today many humidifiers are being manufactured with parts and components that are coated with anti-bacterial features, including the humidifier filters, but this does not eliminate the need to regularly clean some of the inner parts of the humidifier unit. However, the concerns about bacteria should not be viewed as a major factor when choosing to use a humidifier due to the fact manufacturers have taken major steps to eliminating the common concerns about humidifer filter maintenance.

When purchasing a new humidifier it is usually a good idea to purchase several extra filters at the same time. It is a common practice for manufacturers and suppliers to make humidifier filters available at a discounted price to consumers when they initially purchase a humidifier unit.
